| Mr. Nichols Goes To Jackson By Meryl Boyd Mr. Webster's dictionary defines the word wind as: a movement of the air at any velocity. Need I say more? Lew Petryk and John Nichols had the luck of the Irish on March 18th at Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club in Jackson, New Jersey at The Shamrock. Both men were able to win gun champ for the .410 and 12 gauge events. For the luck of all Kevin Boyd was away and not able to defend his 3 straight championships this month. But I know he will be ready to defend in April. The 17 competitors that signed up for .410 didn't let the wind stop them from shooting the ever-challenging gauge. Just to show you how windy it was none of the scores were higher then Lew Petryk's 89. Ed Whitman came close with his B class topping 88. James Ray, making his second appearance at CJ won his C class with an 86 and D1 went to Jr. shooter Eric Bachmann with his impressive 87. I warned everyone to keep an eye out for John Nitro Nichols and I was right! Mr. Nichols made The Shamrock 12 gauge his second gun championship shooting a non-wind stopping 98. Ed Whitman went 2 for 2 on the day winning B class again with a 96. A shoot off ended the day for C class between Jim Areheart and Joe Attard both shooting a 91. Jim came out on top of C class. While running his first registered 50 straight, Andrew Harman was on Nitros heels shooting a D class topping 97. Sub-Jr. shooter Chris Khalaf won E class with a 92. Chris is another name to look for in the future. Igor Bondar made his CJ debut taking E2. I need to thank everyone that really stepped up and helped out in Kevin and Eds absence. Lori, Ed, Geri, Greg, Andrew, Walt, Eric, Chris and Melvin. Thanks to Mike for coming out with mom and help set the fields up the night before. |
