2022 Ruffian
Dear Membership, On Saturday, July 23, 2022 Joint Base hosted the “Ruffian”. Weather conditions were a bit tough this past Saturday, as temperatures exceeded 100°. On the flip side, the machines were tuned and throwing great targets. The coolers were full with gatorade and water and the fans in Yeager Hall were blowing hard.

The first gun was the 410 bore and Peconic River shooter Mike Cerce broke a solid 98 to win the championship! Massachusetts shooter Mike Estepp broke a nice 96 to take AA1. Larry Bonavita took care of business on the shoot off field (against yours truly) to claim A1 with a 94. Mason Palidar shot a very strong 96 to win B1. Neil Alexander iced C1 with a 92 and Ed Amaty’s 88 won D1.

The second gun was the 20 gauge event. Mike Cerce and Larry Bonavita both shot 99's and both made their way to the shoot-off field. Both men were smoking birds going into their 6th pair. Here, Larry let one slip by and Mike Cerce won his second title of the day. Nice shooting Mike! Class winners were Ben Galioto AA1 with a 96, Larry Bonavita took A1 with a 99, and Ed Amaty’s 96 reeled in B1. Joe Madlinger shot a nice 95 to take C1 and Senior Veteran Tommy Surman took D1 with an 82!!

A shout out to Al Raguseo and James Garrett for doing a great job all day. By the way, putting up tents on every field was a great idea. Thank you!

Our referees Sophia Galioto, Mark Bricker and Ed Amaty were outstanding on the button. Thank you!

A sincere and genuine thank you to all those who made the trip from Massachusetts, Northern Pennsylvania and Long Island, NY. We appreciate you!! I also want to thank a loyal group of NJ shooters who are always there for our tournaments. Without all of your participation, these shoots would not be possible!
